Liverpool Chamber of Commerce 5K Team Challenge, in city centre on 12th September
The 2nd 5K Team Challenge road race will take place in the city centre on Sunday, 12th September commencing 10.00am. The full course is illustrated overleaf and it is expected the roads indicated will be in use for approximately 1 hour.
Between 8.00am and 11.00am there will be a Traffic Management Plan in operation which is being delivered by Blue Arrow (Runcorn) with support from Merseyside Police.
Key locations along the course will be -
Canada Boulevard, Mann Island, St. Nicholas Place, Water Street, Brunswick Street and George's Dockway on the RIVERSIDE of Goree. The side streets will be closed to traffic until the event has passed to the furthest point on the course along Great Howard Street. It is expected that normal traffic access will be reinstated by approximately 10.45am.
Goree from Mann Island along New Quay and King Edward Street will have nearside lane restrictions in place but will NOT be closed.
It should be possible to access William Jessop Way via Bath Street until shortly before the race starts at 10.00am. After that time access will be restricted until all runners have passed through to Cotton Street, off Great Howard Street and on to Waterloo Road / Regent Road.
Waterloo Road / Bath Street and Princes Parade will see runners returning toward the Pier Head and they will be using the nearside lane only until shortly before the roundabout at Bath Street. On the approach (to the roundabout) runners will cross to the wrong side of the road and pass through the roundabout on the wrong side leaving sufficient space for vehicles to exit William Jessop Way (or Paisley Street / Great Howard Street / Leeds Street) via the King Edward Industrial Estate. This will be done under Police supervision whilst the race is under way.
Princes Parade will be used in one direction only towards Pier Head as runners return to the finish area to complete the race in front of the Liver Buildings.
The last kilometre will see runners accessing Canada Boulevard via Isle of Man Steam Packet private road and then run as far as Brunswick Street where they will turn left then right into George's Dockway and right into Mann Island then right again on to Canada Boulevard to return to the finish line.
The event should be complete with all runners returning by 11.00am.
Your help and assistance in ensuring a safe and enjoyable event would be very much appreciated by all connected to the race. If you have any questions about the event please contact me on 0151 709 1413 or e-mail alan.rothwell@btconnect.com.
