With the closure of the Churchill Way Flyover many people have been questioning the reasons given for declaring it no longer to be safe but tonight (Monday 03.06.19) on the BBC on Radio 4 the programme Analysis dedicated the episode to the problem of maintenance, particularly in concrete structures from the 1960’s.

It made fascinating listening and our problems in Liverpool are replicated all across the country. What we thought was built to last in effect wasn’t the case and it is almost impossible to maintain some of those structures that have internally deteriorated beyond being able to to be repaired.
