In a new departure for Engage we are hoping to host very soon a showing of the new film ACTionism about a young woman, Ellie Meredith, who journeys from individual anxiety to collective action. It is all about finding your community and discovering resilience in the face of climate change and other issues around sustainability and taking action with others to make a difference.

The film has grown out of the Re-Action Collective and other groups who are working collectively to connect people and planet in a just and sustainable way. This will be a direct and deliberate follow-on from our Sustainable Liverpool seminar series in 2024. We want to bring together many of the groups working already in this field around the city region so we can meet up and connect on a meaningful level. We all want to up our game in the face of the new and terrible direction that America is taking.

We believe that the people can take a lead and we no longer expect politicians or civic leaders to have the answers or to take the bold steps required. This is the time for citizens to step up to the mark and take responsibility for the place where we all live, our planet, mother earth. This film is simply another opportunity to come out of our silos or our paralysis and meet like-minded people who care enough about the future of our common home.
