Leaseholders will be pleased to learn that there is some movement around some of the costs that residents are often complaining about in their service charges.
Recent news articles have reported on a new legal challenge, targeting hidden insurance commissions embedded in leaseholders’ service charge payments. This class action aims to recover costs imposed on leaseholders who may have been unknowingly paying inflated insurance commissions. The action is open to all leaseholders who currently own a flat or have owned a flat between 1st January 1997 to now.
If you think you and your neighbours may have been overcharged for commission on insurance costs you can find out more here.
Leaseholders affected by these charges are encouraged to learn more and join the class action via the dedicated website: Leaseholder Action.
