Residents of Mann Island and The Colonnades will be eagerly looking forward to some amazing installations in their locality starting this month November. The rest of us will have to make the effort to get down to the Albert Dock and the Pier Head to avail ourselves of the cultural delights soon to be revealed!
THE ROYAL ALBERT DOCK
A spectacular animation series will be projected onto the back-wall of the now closed-for-refurbishment Maritime Museum using three state-of-the-art permanent projectors. The show entitled ‘Dock Shorts’ will run at different times and the next viewing is 11th November and then again during the Christmas season.
Jacob Loftus, CEO of General Projects, comments:
“This series marks an exciting new chapter for the dock, blending innovative projection technology with the rich heritage of the site. By showcasing a variety of seasonal and cultural themes, we aim to enhance the visitor experience, attract diverse audiences, and further cement the dock’s role as a vibrant cultural landmark in Liverpool.”
THE PIER HEAD
From Friday November 21st until Monday January 5th you can make your way to the Pier Head for a spectacular Christmas festival which aims to have something for the whole family. The newly commissioned Liverpool Winter Festival will transform this iconic location to attract residents from the Christmas Market at St George’s Hall down to the waterfront to offer the whole city a choice in places to go and things to do for a night out in the city during the holiday period.
Alex and Kennedy Crow, Managing Directors of Crow Leisure Group, said:
“Liverpool’s waterfront has always been the city’s stage, and this winter we want to bring it to life in a way that feels exciting, welcoming and unmistakably Liverpool.
“As parents ourselves, we know how much families value experiences like this, but we’ve created the festival for everyone, from couples and groups of friends to visitors who just want to soak up the atmosphere. You can come down for a walk and a drink, go skating, or bring the kids to see Santa. It’s about creating something the whole city can enjoy together.”
