There will be road closures during this years Triathlon Championships in August and you can find out more about it from the e-mail below:
I am writing regarding the Tri Liverpool event which is planned to take place in Liverpool City Centre, around the docks and up Great Howard St on Sunday 14 August 2016. There will be significant road closures on the day of the event and we are keen to give you as much notice as possible about the event so that you can plan around the event wherever possible.
This is the 4th year that the Triathlon will take place in Liverpool and will see over 1800 triathletes take part, including elite para-triathletes, elite racers vying for the national titles and the general public. The swim will take place in and around the Docks with the start and finish in and around the Echo Arena.
The roads for the race which includes around the docks, the northbound carriageway of the Strand / Goree and both sides of Great Howard St will be closed for the day to ensure the safety of the participants road closure times are expected to be 03.00 – 19.00 with all roads north of Leeds Street reopening from 13.30.
Due to essential engineering works on Great Howard St, as a change for this year the route will travel up to Great Howard St via Pall Mall from Leeds St and rejoin Great Howard St across from the junction with Oil St, further details on the road closures and maps will follow once finalised with the City Council.
We are prosing the same alternative parking arrangements for residents of Wapping and Royal Quay as in previous years and I will be in touch regarding these directly with the relevant parties.
Please do contact me in the first instance with any questions and I will be in touch with further details closer to the time once they are confirmed.
