Plans for the regeneration of Wolstenholme Square were approved by the Planning Committee of the City Council on 8th September 2015.
The proposals include 431 studio and one bedroom apartments on upper floors above commercial units showing that officers and politicians are not yet insisting on the delivery of a more sustainable residential population for the City Centre. There has been no attempt to provide apartments for anyone other than students and young people.
Of course the Council will say they have no power to insist on a different configuration other than that brought forward by developers Wolstenholme Square Developments Ltd and architects Falconer Chester Hall.
Engage is holding a series of seminars in September and October to look at a different way of building a sustainable City Centre.
