The £35m controversial scheme brought forward by Regeneration Liverpool and Neptune Developments has been given the go-ahead by the City Council. It is a revised proposal following an outcry by many people when the first ideas were shown to the public earlier in the year.
This scheme still involves the demolition of the Futurist cinema but has taken into account more of the history of the street and the area which it promises to showcase on the facades of the new buildings.
Steve Parry, managing director of Neptune Developments, said: “There has been strong support for the dynamic urban character of the design and the lighting element which recaptures an essential part of Lime Street’s historic identity and ambience.”
