The Council announced today that they are producing plans for a £45m revamp of the city centre’s roads. Some graphics were released showing The Strand down from 8 lanes to 4 lanes and a wide tree-lined boulevard taking it’s place. Looks pretty good if that is what we are going to get. Hard to see where the bicycles will go though they must have factored them in.

It is now 2 years since Engage held a ground-breaking seminar series entitled Liverpool On the Move which brought experts from Copenhagen, hailed as Europe’s most livable city, to share how they had transformed their city starting with prioritising cycling, walking and public transport. Maybe Liverpool is about to follow their lead. Be prepared for lots of angry car drivers objecting. That’s exactly what happened in Copenhagen too.
