A resident has reached out to us regarding concerns about CCS (Carbon Capture and
Storage) in the Irish Sea.

National as well as local outlets have reported on the matter:

The BBC news article asks local protesters on their opinions as well as talking to the
Chairman of the Peak Cluster Project, who plans to use the technology to reduce the CO2
emitted in cement and lime production.

The ECHO reported on this here: Wirral rallies to fight massive project from Peak District to Cheshire to Irish Sea
as well as the Liverpool Post in February 2026: Just what is happening with Peak Cluster’s CO₂ pipeline?

The Action Against CSS Group criticises the lack of transparency and scrutiny in risk assessments and is
hosting a Fundraiser in FutureYard on the 1st May.

It appears that several political parties representing the Wirral oppose the plans and the
Council has written to the government to scrap the plans.

The application is in the pre-application process, which can be followed on the government website.
