Engage is working alongside other organisations to premier the new film produced by Re-Action Collective which tracks the journey of 19yr old Ellie from passive consumer to active citizen. It is a great follow-up to our autumn seminar series last year on Sustainable Liverpool. It is also the first time that Jon Alexander’s work to promote citizenship has been made into a film.
“19-year-old Ellie Meredith, who, like many young people, grapples with deep-seated anxiety over the climate crisis. Struggling with the uncertainty of her future, she finds solace in new friends Gavin and Heather, who introduce her to the concept of a global community united by shared values. Together, they explore how collective efforts can bring about meaningful change, starting with their work in the Re-Action Collective, an organisation that tackles waste issues within the outdoor sportswear industry. Ellie realises that being part of a proactive, global community helps ease her climate anxiety and provides her with the strength to face the future with hope.” Copy taken from FilmFreeway.
The film will be shown at the cinema in The Studio School and Liverpool Life Sciences UTC at 41 Greenland Street, Baltic, L1 0BS. All showings of the film are part of community screenings around the country and that means there is an opportunity after the film to reflect together on its impact and meaning. This is the first time the film is being shown in Liverpool.
The venue is UTC and Studio School, Greenland Street, Baltic Triangle, Liverpool L1 0BS
The date is Thursday June 5th 2025 at 6.00pm. Doors open from 5.30pm and the film lasts 30mins followed by a discussion for everyone present. There is no charge but a requested donation will be made at the end. The event will end at 7.30pm.
