The second seminar in the Engage 2018 seminar series World Heritage Site Cities of Inspiration focuses on Bordeaux. It has probably the largest urban World Heritage Site in the world. Even the buffer zone completely surrounds the whole city centre. This feels like a place we can learn from!
Also it is a port and has a large dockside area called the Bassins a Flot that is being regenerated and about which we have already found much inspiration. There has been a narrative in Liverpool that UNESCO status holds back development and progress but we will see how that isn’t the case in Bordeaux or, as we learnt in the first seminar, in Strasbourg either.
