Philip James, a Professor of Ecology from Salford University, has written an important article about the critical nature of ensuring we encourage the development of urban ecosystems which will impact upon the design of our cities.

His article states that “the best way to ensure the optimum distribution of development and green space is to take a top-down, policy-led approach. Changing the design of a city is no easy matter, but we know from experience that it can be done.”

Engage’s Blue-Green Liverpool project is an attempt to take a deep look at this whole question here in Liverpool.
