National Museums Liverpool are looking to appoint a masterplanner to transform the area around the Museum of Liverpool and the Maritime Museum into a first class visitor destination.

This area contains two dry docks – the listed Canning Graving Docks – plus the Pilotage Building, the Piermaster’s House and Office, the Cooperage Building, Mermaid House and also the Great Western Railway Building. There is now an opportunity to look afresh at the whole estate in the ownership of National Museums on the Waterfront and they have a great desire to bring this whole place back to life and fully incorporate it with the adjacent museum buildings whilst finding new uses for those building currently not open to the public.
