Residents from South Ferry Quay attended the Engage Waterfront meeting at the Exhibition Centre on Kings Dock on Wednesday 23rd January 2019 and made a passionate plea for people to get involved in the application for a new apartment complex submitted last summer by Maro Developments Ltd for a vacant site on Brunswick Dock and raised concerns about the development.

The new development will be known as Brunswick Quay and will be the third proposal for the site. The first one was a 50 storey tower by Ian Simpson submitted around 2004 and was rejected following an appeal process. Maro then invited the French architect Christophe Egret from Studio Egret West to submit plans and he invited Engage to gather local residents together to discuss the site and their desires for any forthcoming development. This was an exceptionally impressive process and some great plans were brought forward but the collapse of the economy in 2008 saw those plans also bite the dust. And now the architectural practice Fletcher-Rae have submitted new ideas for the site.
