Richard Huws the renowned designer of the Grade II Listed Piazza Fountain died on 27th February 1980 and this year is the 40th Anniversary of his death and the Friends of the Piazza Fountain wanted to commemorate this great man at the site of his most famous engineering acoustic structure.

There will be a pop-up memorial celebration at 3.00pm in Beetham Plaza at the listed fountain. Members of the Liverpool Welsh Choral Union will be performing some Welsh songs and there will be some Welsh poetry as well as a reflection from a former student of Richard Huws when he was teaching at the University of Liverpool. Everyone who values and loves the fountain is welcome to commemorate the great man who designed the structure that has given so much joy to the people of Liverpool since 1967.
